This semiannual gathering is tailored to the learning and networking needs of top state arts agency leaders. Leadership Institutes are retreat-like convenings involving about 150 agency appointees and staff. The smaller scale lends Leadership Institutes to in-depth discussions and high quality connections with your colleagues from around the nation.
What's New This Year?
2015 marks the 50th anniversary of the National Endowment for the Arts as well as many state arts agencies, making this an important occasion to look ahead and equip ourselves for the next half century.
To this end, NASAA is taking a distinctly different approach to our 2015 Leadership Institute. This year's program focuses on the leadership skills, tools and awareness that state arts agency staff and council members need to successfully manage change and lead transformation efforts. Sessions draw on many artistic and professional disciplines and use a variety of formats to encourage active learning. And we're borrowing elements from the extraordinary Change Leader program—pioneered in Utah and now active in Idaho and Colorado—to inform and inspire our agenda.
Amidst these changes, you can still count on still getting what you value most about NASAA conferences: great ideas, networking time with peers, fantastic arts experiences and renewed energy for your work back home. See the complete agenda for more details.
Who Can Attend?
Leadership Institutes are designed primarily for state arts agency chairs, council members, executive directors and deputy directors. We also encourage you to bring emerging leaders and other agency staff holding policy leadership roles. Agencies bringing multiple people receive a discounted registration fee!
Plan Your Trip
When you book your flights and hotel room, plan to spend some extra time in the area to explore Salt Lake City's dynamic arts scene and awe-inspiring natural attractions.
We look forward to seeing you in Utah!
