News and Current Information

New from the National Governors Association: We are pleased to announce State Efforts to Promote Reading and Literary Activities, a new issue brief on the arts from the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices. Produced with help from NASAA and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, this report is part of a series of arts briefs that help governors recognize the economic, educational and civic benefits of the arts at the state level.

The latest brief, available from the NGA at www.nga.org/Files/pdf/0602STATEREADING.pdf explores how literary activities contribute to workforce development and civic engagement. Visit NASAAas Web site for press materials and information on the complete series of arts briefs, which also includes editions on rural economic development, workforce preparation, international trade, and more.

NASAA hopes that the issue briefs continue to help you open doors and make the case for arts support in your state. Please promote this information among grantees, partners and advocates in your state.
