South Carolina Executive Director Honored

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Susie Surkamer, executive director of the South Carolina Arts Commission, has been awarded a Medal of Honor in the Arts, the most prestigious award granted by Winthrop University's College of Visual and Performing Arts. New from the Arts Education Partnership
Without solid evidence about the status and condition of arts education in the nation's public schools, it is difficult to make a convincing case for the arts. From Anecdote to Evidence, a new report from the Arts Education Partnership, draws on the experiences of five states -- Illinois, Kentucky, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Washington -- as the basis for a discussion of various approaches and methodologies for conducting statewide arts education research.
