Cultural Heritage Tourism Resource Manual
Compiled by the National Trust for Historic Preservation for Partners in Tourism, the Cultural Heritage Tourism Resource Manual (PDF) is a directory of more than 40 organizations and agencies that provide funding, technical assistance and other support for cultural heritage tourism projects. When reprinted or distributed, the manual must include the credits for American Express, the National Endowment for the Arts and Partners in Tourism.

  • National Scenic Byways Program
    Includes a database of funded projects that includes a number of cultural heritage tourism projects, as well as information on available grants.
  • Transportation Enhancements /National Transportation Enhancements (TE) Clearinghouse
    Provides information about TE projects and state TE manager contact information.
    NOTE: Funds are awarded by or through state departments of transportation, not the U.S. Department of Transportation. A number of projects from Virginia's Civil War Trail to historic preservation and public art projects have been funded.

Partners in Tourism
Partners in Tourism is a coalition of national associations and federal agencies whose purpose is advance the role of culture and heritage in national, state and local travel and tourism policies and practices. For more information, e-mail Kimber Craine.

Cultural Heritage Tourism Alliance
A representative group of cultural heritage tourism practitioners at the local and state level from across country who host a meeting annually to share information and address issues and opportunities in the field. E-mail Barbara Steinfeld for more information.

Alliance of National Heritage Areas
