Driving New Agendas: 2002 NASAA Annual Meeting

Driving New Agendas
The 2002 NASAA Annual Meeting

October 17-20, 2002
Detroit, Michigan

Hosted by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs

Theme

State arts agencies face continuous pressure to meet the demands of a rapidly changing society. As public agencies seeking to serve constituents most effectively, they regularly question who they are, what they do, and with whom they do it. In debating their choices, state arts agencies have a range of options from maintaining programs and processes to redefining themselves within the new environment. The 2002 annual meeting of the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies will focus on strategies to help state arts agencies change and thrive in the 21st century. Attendees at Driving New Agendas will explore innovative approaches and some new twists on old approaches to partnerships, infrastructure, change management and design. They will take advantage of the location to reflect on the reinvention of the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and to learn from the United States' northern neighbor, Canada. And they will experience the diversity of Detroit, from the multicultural communities to the corporate leaders.
