The National Assembly of State Arts Agencies is seeking skilled interns who will assist in the workings of a national, nonprofit arts association and be involved in substantive and challenging projects across several program areas.
NASAA accepts intern applications on a rolling basis. Depending on the work hours arranged, interests/skills of the candidate and current needs of NASAA, some shifting or blending of responsibilities may take place.

POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
Cultural Leadership
The cultural leadership intern will work directly with NASAA's executive staff to perform documentary and administrative tasks. Projects include researching and assembling a timeline of NASAA accomplishments; culling, summarizing and digitizing resource materials; and organizing digital files.
An ideal candidate has proven organizational skills, attentiveness to detail, established writing ability, experience conducting research, and general comfort with technology. Candidate must have significant interest in at least one of the following: cultural policy, association leadership development, arts management, nonprofit leadership or public sector effectiveness. Interest in association history or organizational development is helpful.
Research
The research intern will work directly with NASAA's research team on projects that include collecting data from primary and secondary sources; developing fact sheets; building catalogs of policy and planning examples; preparing written summaries of research for reference briefings, publications and the Web site; and providing general support to research staff.
An ideal candidate has experience conducting primary and secondary research, knowledge and fluency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Access), established writing skills, attentiveness to detail and accuracy, and proven organizational ability. Candidate should have an interest in at least one of the following: arts management, public policy, government or applied research. Interest in graphics is helpful.
Resource Development
The resource development intern will work directly with NASAA's development director on projects that include researching, updating and organizing prospect information for fundraising projects; drafting proposals, letters and other fundraising materials; providing data entry and data management support; assisting with the administration and growth of NASAA's individual membership program; and researching and advancing online giving opportunities.
An ideal candidate has strong verbal and written communications skills, solid organizational ability, attentiveness to detail and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access). Interest in the arts, public policy and/or fund raising is helpful.
